Christina Hendricks on Lucky's August cover

The woman who single-handedly made fiery red hair and serious curves hot again goes glam for the August cover of Lucky magazine.

Joan Holloway—er, Christina Hendricks—opens up to the glossy, gabbing about her famous body and the clothes that she so wisely chooses for it.

“I have to be careful about my proportions and keep it simple,” Hendricks said. “What works for me is structure and something that shows my waist.” (Her cover look, a khaki Donna Karan, has just that cinching effect.)

Specifically, she turns to “Vivienne Westwood for drama, L’Wren Scott for her perfect tailoring and body consciousness, and Zac Posen for whimsy,” though she says there’s one item of clothing she has trouble getting just right: the swimsuit

“It’s really hard to find a bathing suit if you have breasts,” she said. “You either get smooshed down or there’s no support. My husband and I have sketched out designs.” (Could this be a hint about a forthcoming Christina Hendricks swim line? We’ll keep our fingers crossed.)

In the buff: Hendricks keeps things in neutral for the new issue of Lucky.

And the now-iconic redhead—who dyed her natural blonde hair at the age of 10 after obsessing over Anne of Green Gables—knows the power of some perfectly placed accessories, like the bright green Van Cleef & Arpels necklace that sets off her hair.

Her other go-to accessories? “I collect animal bracelets,” she said. “I got my first one off the Mad Men set; they let me keep a horse cuff I fell in love with.”

Ah, the perks of being Joan Holloway …
