It’s become standard that on Fashion’s Night Out, the streets of Manhattan are mobbed.

When there are free booze and a celebrity to be spotted, why wouldn’t the entire tri-state area come out to celebrate?

But four floors above the madness outside Versace’s invitation-only fete on Fifth Avenue, Drake lounged on a leather sofa, surrounded only by a few friends—and several bottles of bubbly.

“It’s like Christmas in New York!,” the Versace-clad rapper laughed. “It’s like Halloween—it’s a bona fide holiday. They should, like, deem it something. The streets are packed, people look great, there’s alcohol involved … [and] you cannot beat sitting on a Versace couch surrounded by bottles of champagne.”

Of course, later that evening he joined the masses downstairs, taking to the turntables and even greeting pal Nicki Minaj, who dropped by later in the night after her appearance at the Yves Saint Laurent store a few blocks up.

While Drake might not have gotten everything he wanted from the evening—“I like Allegra,” he said. “I wanted to meet her tonight!”—there was one unexpected perk: picking up a few ideas from the over-the-top Versace décor that surrounded him.

After all, the former Degrassi actor has a penchant for interior design—who knew?

“I have Versace ashtrays, pillows, blankets, towels…” he said. “I have what’s sort of like a smoking room in Miami that’s all Versace. I like interior decorating a lot. I have two places, Toronto and Miami, and I did both of them. I just love what the brand represents: It’s such a level of class to me, all across the board.”

Just say the word and we’re there.
