Fashion’s Night Out 2011 Roundup

Michael Kors put on his dancing shoes to celebrate FNO and 30 years in business with the Rockettes.

FashionEtc hit the bustling New York City streets for FNO, as celebrities and champagne drew shoppers (and endless stargazers) to stores uptown, downtown, and everywhere in between.

We braved masses of teenyboppers who came out to catch a glimpse of Joe Jonas and the Glee stars at Saks Fifth Avenue.

We made our way through the sardine-packed sidewalk of fans—which spilled out onto 57th Street—eagerly awaiting Nicki Minaj's arrival at Yves Saint Laurent. And from the in-unison "I love you!" shriek, the singer and her over-the-top hair clearly didn't disappoint.

We hit Miu Miu, where Shala Monroque, Tavi Gevinson, and Jane Aldridge shared hosting duties with the Sea of Shoes blogger’s adorable puppy.

We spied Marc Jacobs and stylish siblings Dakota and Elle Fanning on Mercer Street.

We mingled with shoe guru Stuart Weitzman and PYTs Michelle Trachtenberg and Hayden Panettiere. We even discussed interior decorating with rapper Drake at Versace (really!).

But possibly the biggest frenzy of the night came courtesy of Justin Bieber, whose mobs of Beliebers reportedly caused a fire marshal to declare the scene of Dolce & Gabbana a fire hazard. (According to our reporter: “The screams were, literally, deafening”—but then, what would you expect?)

Shoppers elsewhere might have been expected to make do with a little gratis champagne, but as if Bieber wasn't enough, high-profile guests including Usher, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Leann Rimes, and Anna Wintour also attended D&G.

Opening Ceremony snagged the other mega-mega star of the evening at its Ace Hotel carnival: Miss Piggy, who unveiled the retailer’s new Muppets collection. According to Women’s Wear Daily, she had a particular admirer in Spike Jonze, who told her he’d been in love with her forever. Her response: “Don’t you know I’m taken?”

Over at Michael Kors (who started his evening in the windows of Bergdorf Goodman), the designer celebrated Fashion's Night Out and his 30th anniversary year with a blowout performance by the Rockettes. “"That's why I set a high bar,” he told USA Today. “I cannot hit their bar." After signing bags, wallets, and body parts (yes, really), Kors came up with an idea for a future FNO. “Next year, we’ve got to do Michael Kors signature tattoos.”

Anna Dello Russo held court with Karolina Kurkova at Macy’s, a master painter monogrammed luggage at the very Night Porter-themed Louis Vuitton event, and Chanel’s special FNO nail shades (denim-inspired!) complete with complimentary manicures resulted in lines snaking out of its 57th Street boutique as early as 6 p.m.

Of course, then there was Beth Ditto's performance at MAC, Leighton Meester's acoustic set at Tiffany & Co., Joe Zee's dance contest at Lanvin, and a Lara Stone love-fest at Calvin Klein.

Another year, another FNO, another bar set impossibly high.

How will they top this in 2012?
