Actress Sofia Vergara may look like a million bucks in her new Diet Pepsi ad but her sexy blue swimsuit only cost $98.

According to the Daily Mail, Vergara’s sizzling swimwear—a splashy ’50s-style number with ruching—was created by famed designer Norma Kamali.

“I lovvvvvvvvve designing swimwear and do it with the intention of flattering women,” says Kamali, whose bathing suits retail for up to $300 and are available in a lower-priced Wal-Mart line. But, she adds, “With swimwear it is never the swimsuit, always the person—their face and body, and especially with Sofia, her smile—that are the most important factors in a memorable photo.”

Kamali should know: Since opening her New York shop in 1968, she has outfitted countless celebrities and most recently created a white bikini for Kim Kardashian’s fragrance campaign and a black studded one-piece for Lady Gaga’s 2010 World Music Awards appearance.

“I am so fortunate to have a very long list of celebrities who wear my suits, or have through the years,” she says, before mentioning one specific piece that really made waves. “I think to me, a favorite is the famous Farah Fawcett poster of her in my red suit in the ’70s. The suit is now in the Smithsonian and it’s quite a compliment.”
