Runway-ready? The gardens at Versailles.

It’s hard to imagine a setting more opulent than Chanel’s custom-built private plane—the setting for the house’s latest haute couture collection—but the Kaiser has upped the ante yet again.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that Karl Lagerfeld has chosen the garden of the Château de Versailles for Chanel’s cruise collection, to be shown May 14. Maybe the hall of mirrors was booked?

It’s not unusual for Lagerfeld to pick over-the-top settings for the annual cruise show. In the past, Chanel has flown its guests to the French Riviera (for last year’s show, at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes), Saint Tropez, Venice, Miami, and more.
