Has Brian Atwood found a new walk of life?

The footwear favorite is expanding to handbag design with his first-ever bag collection, which will launch exclusively on Gilt.com at noon (EST) on March 28, Women's Wear Daily reports. (Alarms set? Good.)

Priced from $1,050 to $1,795, the collection of four bag styles—including a colorful blue and green snakeskin clutch and minaudières with resin and tortoiseshell detailing—proves that Atwood's knack for decadent design isn't limited to shoes.

The venture also marks a win-win situation for both Atwood and Gilt Groupe. Having collaborated with more established labels like Helmut Lang and Kate Spade in the past, the flash sale site was keen to work with a smaller brand which could benefit from the exposure while opening itself up to new design opportunities.

"This is our first handbag collection," Atwood tells WWD, adding that the bags "are not inexpensive, but they are gorgeous."

"We’re really selective about who we get involved with," he says of partnering with Gilt. "You have this huge audience. It makes it more exciting.”

And from the sounds of it, there's more to come. A Gilt-exclusive capsule collection of men's shoes and a range of B Brian Atwood handbags are also said to be in the works.

"This collaboration is part of a broader relationship with Brian,” Jyothi Rao, general manager of Gilt's women's division, says. “Who knows where his brand will expand to next?”

Until then, Gilt members have until Sunday, April 1 to snatch up Atwood's bags—no joke.
