Harper’s Bazaar Reveals New Look with Racy Gwyneth Paltrow Cover
Who's that girl? Good question.
Harper's Bazaar is giving itself a fresh new redesign beginning with its sexy-as-hell March cover, starring none other than a leggy Gwyneth Paltrow rocking a slashed, midriff-baring black dress from up-and-coming designer Anthony Vaccarello with strappy Givenchy sandals.
Shot by Terry Richardson, the intriguing image—which conceals Paltrow's face beneath a veil of blonde waves—marks a bold new direction for the fashion tome, which also plans to launch e-commerce later this year.
“It’s a very daring thing to do, where you don’t immediately see her face," editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey tells Women's Wear Daily of the cover. “As you know, I was the first to develop this two-cover approach.”
But while the magazine is enjoying its first major nip/tuck in a decade—updates include new typography, editorial exclusives, and a larger size—its cover girl Paltrow is a bit more squeamish when it comes to changing her look.
"I’ll take my wrinkles,” the 39-year-old actress says. “I don’t like the Botox thing.”
Instead, Paltrow relies on frequent facials and "little things, like lasers" to keep her skin glowing. And judging by the toned and trim figure seen filling out little black dresses from Lanvin, Versace, Blumarine, Givenchy, and Alexander McQueen in the accompanying fashion spread, she's no stranger to the yoga studio either.
Sure enough, the genius behind Goop (which is getting its own relaunch next month) credits her foxy frame to 90-minute weekday workouts with trainer Tracy Anderson and periodic detox sessions interspersed with eating "whatever I want."

The Coach campaign star also opens up about her fashion hiccups (she defends her black McQueen gown from the 2002 Oscars, but admits her braided hair "was a mistake"), why her devotion to being a wife and mother may cause Gloria Steinem to "string me up by my toes," and how daughter Apple is going to inherit one killer collection of clothes one day.
"I've been saving my clothes for her since before she was born," Paltrow says.
"I was like, I'll bet you anything I'll have a daughter, and she'll be a really cool butch lesbian and be so above clothes, and I got a very clothes-obsessed child. So if she's a lesbian, she's a lipstick lesbian. She doesn't like anything avant-garde at all. She likes anything that's pretty, pretty, pretty or has a bow or a ruffle or is pink."
