Showgoers can be seen standing at the Balenciaga Spring 2012 runway presentation.

No Fashion Week is complete without a crisis or two: models falling, painful delays, rival editors being seated too close to each other (gasp!).

But at the Spring 2012 Balenciaga show in Paris on September 29, things literally came crashing down.

The benches where attendees were slated to sit started to crack and break; Women's Wear Daily reported that about "a half dozen benches succumbed," causing some editors to end up flat on the floor.

“The benches [are] breaking at Balenciaga! It is a now standing show!!!! INSANE!” tweeted Jak & Jil’s Tommy Ton.

Guests like Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault, Catherine Deneuve, and more were left to stand throughout the entire presentation—leading to, as one clever tweeter put it, “a guaranteed standing ovation!”

Of course, those glass-half-full types found the bright side in the episode: “It created quite the spirit of camaraderie,” wrote Vogue U.K. editor Alexandra Shulman.
