Red hot! Anne Hathaway goes glam in Gucci on the August cover of Harper’s Bazaar.

Anne Hathaway describes herself as something of a reformed people pleaser in Harper’s Bazaar's August cover story. Reformed or not, we’re pretty pleased by the gorgeous Gucci number she sports for her close-up.

"There's something very addictive about people pleasing," she told Cathy Horyn, who penned the article after a pedicure and vegan food date with the actress. "It's a thought pattern and a habit that feels really, really good until it becomes desperate. It's one of the reasons that relationship ended,” she said, referring to her breakup with Raffaelo Follieri, who went to prison on charges of wire fraud and money laundering.

“I wasn't able to grow or foster anything,” she said. “I think a lot of girls have that story. It's a big moment when you step away from that and say, 'I'm going to be exactly who I am. And I'm going to be brave enough to only be with someone who wants me the way I am.'" (When it comes to her current boyfriend, Adam Shulman, the actress is matter-of-fact, writes Horyn. “So far, it’s worked out great,” Hathaway said. “Mellow doesn’t always make for a good story, but it makes for a good life.”)

Double decked: Hathaway wears dramatic Alexander McQueen for Harper’s Bazaar.

Of her much-discussed turn as the co-host of this year’s Oscars (alongside James Franco), Hathaway is still cheery. “Anyone who disliked my personality probably disliked my personality before the Oscars,” she said. “In the grand scheme of things, I got to have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I met great people, wore beautiful clothes. And I got to put on a show. I don't see a downside.”

In addition to that show-stopping Gucci gown, Hathaway wears looks from Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, Prada, and more for her London-themed shoot, where she perches on a double-decker bus and poses next to a red telephone booth.

"I've become a lot more specific about what I love and why I'm doing it," she says of her everyday personal style, which includes designer favorites like Vivienne Westwood and Isabel Marant. As for those non-everyday stunners? “[I feel] like the luckiest girl in the world when I get to wear all these glamorous clothes,” she said.
