Charlotte Gainsbourg Covers WSJ. Magazine
“Charlotte Gainsbourg is Not a Style Icon,” proclaims WSJ.’s headline. But we beg to differ. The Melancholia star looks stunning in black-and-white on the cover of the magazine's March Women's Spring Fashion issue. Inside, she talks to Natasha Fraser-Cavassoni about fashion, Hollywood and plastic surgery.
"I don't follow fashion at all. I don't like fashion shows at all." Gainsbourg says—though it's worth noting that she has been front-row at Balenciaga, for which she is the face of the house, and Chanel Couture in recent seasons.

Throughout the moody shoot, Gainsbourg breaks from starlet protocol by wearing clothes from her own wardrobe, including a marinière shirt and a chambray buttondown with rolled-up sleeves. She tells the magazine, "Style for me is a casual way of putting something on....Now I like wearing the same sweater over and over again, then taking it off when it's smelly."
Another nugget gleaned from the profile: the 40-year-old actress is working on a new film with her Antichrist and Melancholia director Lars von Trier, which is reportedly called The Nymphomaniac.
The issue also contains a juicy, must-read profile of Angelica Huston, who was recently spotted taking in the scene at Michael Kors' fall show.
