Barneys New York celebrated their new windows—a collaboration with desteFashionCollection—with a party full of industry insiders, art aficionados and plenty of cocktails, at the Madison Avenue store.

Based in Athens, Greece and founded by Greek art collector Dakis Joannou, the destefashioncollection was conceived by DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art as a way to interpret the relationships between art, fashion and culture.

The Barneys exhibition, which is the first U.S. presentation of destefashioncollection, reveals installation projects by five prominent artists in different disciplines: art and design partnership M/M (Paris), photographer Juergen Teller, designer Helmut Lang, poet Patrizia Cavalli and filmmaker Athina Rachel Tsangari.

From Teller's giant portrait of Yves Saint Laurent to Helmut Lang's look at Fashion's 'Front Row,' the windows certainly meld the worlds of art and fashion, adding a little intellectual intrigue to your Sunday shopping excursion.

Attendees crowd around the new windows.

“We are excited and honored that Dakis Joannou and the DESTE Foundation have chosen Barneys as the venue for the first American presentation of destefashioncollection,” said Barneys Creative Director Dennis Freedman. “From the moment I first saw Dakis’ extraordinary art collection and explored the programs of his Foundation, I dreamed that we might work together some day. Now with this collaboration, that dream has come true.”

So if you were thinking about taking a stroll to Barneys, the exhibit is on view through July 4th.
