The Hearst Tower was filled with some of fashion's most fabulous ladies (and a handful of equally worthy gents) as Harpers Bazaar, along with Estée Lauder spokesmodel Carolyn Murphy, celebrated the magazine’s third annual Fabulous at Every Age contest.

Bazaar editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey, dressed in a pale blue Valentino dress, talked to FashionEtc about what the contest—which has become one of her favorite Bazaar events—means to her. "It's about just the sheer joy and passion that we have for fashion and beauty and making every woman feel great about themselves regardless of their age. I think that's what Harpers Bazaar is all about, about making the most of everyone's looks, giving ideas and inspiration and having fun with fashion and beauty."

Enviously ageless in a tight black backless minidress, Carolyn Murphy announced the winners of the magazine’s nationwide search for fabulous women of every age.

"Carolyn is one of my all-time favorite models. She was in my first issue and [on] a lot of my covers so I'm a huge fan," said Bailey before Murphy took the stage to announce the contest finalists.

The magazine selected six fab contenders for the grand contest: 27-year-old Cara McLeay from Vancouver, 32-year-old Nicole Holmes from the Bronx, 48-year-old Monday Sipiaguine from Aquebogue, 54-year-old Alyssa di Edwardo from West Palm Beach and 68-year-old Sandy Bohl from Toronto.

While last year's winner was an impressive 67-year-old, this year's most Fabulous title went to McLeay, a bubbly, ambitious blonde who takes style inspiration from Kate Moss and Clémence Poésy and chronicles her looks on her blog, A Fashion Love Affair.

After toasting the finalists and announcing the winner, Carolyn Murphy told us, "I was honored to host the event. Harpers Bazaar and Estée Lauder have been long-time supporters of my career and I wouldn't be here if it weren't for either of them. I think I stood proud tonight because I'm 38, almost 39 (although she looks about 24), and to be with all these women who also represent being fabulous at every age is a true honor."

We we asked Murphy when in her life she feels the most fabulous and she laughed saying, "When I sleep! Being a single mother and working, it's a lot of balancing, so sleep is precious."

Harpers Bazaar vice president and publisher Carol Smith told us,  "This event is so iconic Bazaar. It's very interesting because every reader loves it and so do the editors. We can only make it bigger and Lauder is such a fabulous partner in every way. Because we are such a storied brand, I love taking what is iconic and making it modern. Look at that 68-year-old woman, she's as modern as any 20-year-old, and that is obvious." Bohl was making the most of her night out, surrounded by an impressive selection of fabulous females, including Bergdorf Goodman's Linda Fargo and model Carol Alt.
