Kate Middleton took makeup classes with Arabella Preston before her wedding day.

Kate Middleton’s makeup classes with Arabella Preston seem to have paid off! The new Duchess of Cambridge looked radiant for her wedding to Prince William at Westminster Abbey.

The Daily Mail reports that Her Royal Highness told aides that she “knows her own face” and didn’t think a professional could do a better job.

Middleton opted for an understated look, with a soft, smoky eye, pink blush, and light pink lipstick.

Makeup artist Laura Geller told Allure.com the bride looked natural by not using too much color on her face.

“Her skin is matte, and there’s a big emphasis on her cheeks—very rosy, so her cheekbones are powerful in a good way,” she said.

“It looks like she has gray and taupe shadows with a charcoal liner on both the top and bottom lash lines and a bone-colored liner on her inner rims, and mascara on her lashes.

“Her brows are prominent, but it doesn’t look like they were filled in much—instead, Kate has a luminescent pink or shell-colored powder on her brow bones to make her brows look lifted.

“Her lips are a creamy pink nude.”

Geller explained that the key to getting this look is “mixing dark and light so your features look defined.”
