Belly baring looks from the Versace, Pucci and Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012 collections.

Looks like it’s crunch time.

With Milan Fashion Week winding down, one major trend has emerged from the city’s heaviest hitters—and it’s not for the faint of heart.

If you’ve tried to banish all memory of the crop top, think again. And then dust off that ab roller, because Prada, Versace, Pucci, and Dolce & Gabbana all made those miniature tops highlights of their respective collections.

We got a taste of Pucci’s belly-baring concept when Gwyneth Paltrow wore her Spring 2012 ensemble on the Emmy's recently, but designer Peter Dundas really went wild with his super-sexy collection. Whether it was abbreviated peasant-style blouses or lacy looks that might be better suited to the bedroom, there was midriff bared in over a dozen of the show’s looks.

On the sweeter side, Dolce & Gabbana served up summery cropped tops that were paired with bloomer-style shorts or full skirts.

Prada and Versace went the bandeau top and high-waisted pencil skirt route, though Prada’s girly florals were in contrast to Versace’s leather bustier tops and generous smattering of studs.

Of course, the look isn’t limited to the Italian runways. Alexander Wang showed slivers of midsection in his spring show, while Helmut Lang’s bra tops were a bit more bare.

Bold? Of course. Sexy? Duh. Wearable? That’s another story. It goes without saying that this look works best on model types—but even if you have the abs for it, would you wear a cropped top?

Then again, if it’s good enough for Gwyneth…
