Secrets to Jennifer Lopez’s Flawless Beauty

Is it possible Jennifer Lopez looks even better now, at 46 years old, than she did when we first met her in her 20’s? It’s that flawless, glowing skin! I know we are all wondering her secrets, and just exactly how we can recreate a similar look at home. Good news! We’re in luck - Byrdie was able to shake some secrets out of Lopez’s makeup artist, Mary Phillips, who shared all the steps to recreate her look at home!

Step 1 is to Prep your skin – a step most people skip, but it truly is the most important. Next up Apply your foundation – most makeup artists, including Phillips, prefer to use their fingers as it transfers heat to the skin and locks in the dewy (therefore glowy) finish of the foundation. If you want a more airbrushed look, apply your foundation in small circles with a good quality foundation brush.

After your foundation is applied you’ll want to apply a skin matching concealer under your eyes, around your mouth, and on the sides of your nose. For those dreaded under eye circles use an orange hued shade, and a green shade on any red areas. Your skin should now be flawless – but be sure to keep your blotting papers with you for any necessary touch ups.

Phillips states the key to beauty is the basics, “Try and eat healthy, drink lots of water and fresh juices, exercise, get regular sleep, and follow an a.m. and p.m. skincare routine.” she says. That’s fantastic advice we all need to follow – but when life gets in the way is there any way we can fake it? “Facial mists.” Phillips shares. “They’re one of my ultimate must-haves and I can never have enough—I think everyone should own one if you truly want to glow.”
