Denim duo Emily Current and Meritt Elliott are leaving their namesake label Current/Elliott.

Offering no reason for their departure, the ladies said they will continue to work together and stated they already have a number of design projects in the works, according to Women's Wear Daily.

Longtime Los Angeles-based stylists, the friends from UCLA founded the celebrity-adored Current/Elliott brand with Serge Azria (who also owns JOIE) in 2008.

“We are so proud of what we have accomplished with Current/Elliott,” Current and Elliott said. “Parting ways has been a difficult decision, but we are thrilled for our next chapter in design and to perpetuate our whimsical Americana aesthetic across multiple categories.”

Inducted into the CFDA this year, the girls certainly have plenty of future opportunities in fashion beyond the faded flare and the boyfriend jean.
