SHOW: Kenzo SS13

THEME: Utility Meets Safari ACCESSORIES: Minimalist vibrant clutches

OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Kenzo is on a safari in case you didn’t know – and anyone that needs more convincing just has to see this collection in its entire Indiana Jones-esque splendor.

Kenzo has been consistent over the years while working in many different aesthetics, and that’s a fact. The brand does tailoring, they do loose silhouettes, and they can do high fashion with the best of them.

This collection is different. It is practical fashion that can translate to a consumer that doesn’t have to look like the model wearing the garment on the runway. Kenzo’s offering this time around, serves many different purposes with an overall theme of utility felt throughout. This is evidenced by the loose-cut trousers and jumpsuits synched with belts and pockets throughout. Dresses were cut loosely seemingly miraging models’ shapes.

The designer played with earth tones and left vibrant hues alone. The prints were appropriate for the garments and worked which means that the garments will be able to transition well to other body-types. And then with other dresses, the designer uses geometry, but in a sort of casual way that blends the concept of shapes with the casual aestethic to show two different styles of dress in one garment.
