Vivienne Westwood Spring 2013 RTW
SHOW: Vivienne Westwood Gold Label Spring 2013
THEME: Climate Revolution
HAIR: Towering Marie Antoinette-esque bouffants
MAKEUP: Ghostly white face paint
ACCESSORIES: Slim croc bags, peep-toe platform heels and booties with buckle details, opulent jeweled necklaces and earrings, assorted headpieces, floral-print hosiery
OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Dame Viv is still in that regal mood, it seems. But while her London show referenced Queen Elizabeth II with its pearl necklaces and prim wigs, Paris was all about Marie Antoinette, with decadent prints, crowns, corseted dresses, and ultra-teased bouffants on display.

Thick platform heels in swirling prints would cause both Elton John and Louis XVI to swoon, and Red Riding Hood-esque capes, a gold lame skirt, and bold printed ensembles—seemingly created from leftover couch upholstery—smacked of costume drama.
Still, there were some beautifully restrained moments. Transitioning from her Red Label '50s-inspired offerings, Westwood treated us to a lovely black silk brocade jumpsuit, embellished dresses in pretty pastels, and knockout draped numbers that had just the right amount of va-va-voom.
As with her London show, Westwood's 'Climate Revolution' theme culminated in a slogan tee amidst the butterfly-adorned playsuits and metallic corsets. This time, however, she opted against taking her bow in hot pants and a painted-on moustache. Pity.
