Haider Ackermann Spring 2013 RTW

Launch Slideshow

SHOW: Haider Ackermann, Spring 2013

THEME: Dark chic fairytale

ACCESSORIES: Oversize belts, dominatrix heels

OVERALL TAKEAWAY: It's pretty bold to do an entire collection of black and grey garments for a spring/summer offering, and it can easily go wrong really quickly. But that is not the case at Haider Ackermann. In fact, this collection was winning from the first look to the last.

The designer played with a lot of different kinds of looks and silhouettes for this collection, using black as the primary color.

Jumpsuits and pantsuits were sharp and flawlessly manufactured, taking extra care and notice in appreciating and flattering a woman's figure. But even in these impeccable tailored pieces, Ackermann added his quirky and playful overtones with his use of dots, stripes, and oversize belts.

Dresses played with transparent textiles to create a wide cape-finishing that flowed in a classic kind of fairytale way down the runway. But this was no happy Disney princess; Ackermann chose villain over princess, which felt surprisingly practical.

Badass chic for spring? Why not!
