Launch Slideshow

SHOW: Anthony Vaccarello, Spring 2013

THEME: Fine tailoring and Vaccarello's signature thigh-high slits

ACCESSORIES: Strappy high heel sandals

OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Anthony Vaccarello's spring collection brings one celebrity to mind—Angelina Jolie. The star's now infamous Oscar leg pose (her leg wound up on the Statue of Liberty, Darth Vader, Michelangelo's "The Creating of Adam" once it got the internet meme treatment) is well suited for many of Vaccarello's body-baring pieces.

Between the white miniskirts with ruched draping, the black shirtdress with a high-low hemline, and the show's final look—a floor-length gown that was cut as high as a bathing suit on one side—legs were on full display.

Last season the Belgian-born designer mentioned that he wanted "something more masculine, more strong," for his collection. He certainly achieved that with his tailored suits and asymmetrical dresses cut at severely sharp angles. But this season it appears he's toned down that masculinity; keeping his impeccable tailoring (as seen in the white blazer with black lapels that opened the show) and asymmetry abounds, but there's something softer and more feminine this time around.

Let's see, we're five months out from Oscar season—plenty of time for Jolie to place her order. Until then, we can't wait to see these pieces on Vaccarello's favorite supermodels, Karlie Kloss and Anja Rubik.
