SHOW: Prada, Spring 2013

THEME: Japonisme

HAIR: Guido for Redken

MAKEUP: Pat McGrath

OVERALL TAKEAWAY: Miuccia Prada looked to the past for her spring 2013 collection, sending a mixture of kimono-inspired silhouettes and Andy Warhol flower prints down the runway.

Each look was architectural, stiff, and angular, as if the designer had taken a kimono and reworked it into a shorter, more angular design. Indeed, this japonisme influence continued all the way down to the shoes, which were thong sandals worn over colorful socks (we're kind of hoping this doesn't become a trend though).

Longer coats were featured in sumptuous furs with bold Warhol flowers placed throughout. On our wish list? Yes. But will we be wearing fur for spring? No.

As a whole this collection didn't feel entirely wearable (those falling off the shoulder jackets looked more frustrating than chic), but Miuccia Prada's never been about wearability. Either way, we'll be adding those shifty 60s dresses and skirt suits to our must-have list next spring!
