Bettina's Take: Carolina Herrera Fall 2012

One can always count on Carolina Herrera to make gorgeous, ladylike clothes in luxurious fabrics, and Fall 2102 was no exception. Using a palette that included deep navy, purple, black, light blue and red, in splashes and on entire dresses, the collection was a feast for the eyes.

Renee Zellweger, Lee Radziwill, Anna and Graydon Carter, Amy Fine Collins, Fran Lebowitz and Pat Wexler were all front row in Reinaldo Herrera's section, where friends of the house congregate yearly to admire the elegant designs and double kiss.

The wrap belt was a recurring theme, from both the soft looking wool and cashmere day outfits, occasionally trimmed in fur, to the ball gowns reminiscent of '80's opulence, in updated colors and bold prints. There was something for every occasion, including tweed, wool, fur accents in broad tail, sable and goat, the ever-present Fall 2012 peplum, long, lean evening gowns and the aforementioned ball gowns, including a belted showstopper in "haute pink" that ended the show.

Perfect for Valentine's Day.
