Bettina's Take: Nicole Miller Fall 2012

It is fitting for me that Nicole Miller's show was my first for Fashion Week. I'm a big fan of Nicole the designer as well as Nicole the person, and her collections never disappoint.

She had lots of star power in attendance, including Karen Duffy, Beverly Johnson, Donna Hanover and Laurie Durning Waters, plus close friends Richard and Marcia Mishaan, Tracy Snyder, Valesca Guerrand-Hermes and her son, Palmer Taipale.

The clothes were gorgeous: from the floppy hats to the stretch velvet pants, the collection screamed updated 70's, complete with long silhouettes, fur trimmed coats, mixtures of orange, brown, green and purple, most of them digitally printed on tweed, velvet, powernet and neoprene. This new technique gave the collection a fresh, never before seen look. There was corduroy and fringe, as well as embroidered black leather, a metal leather and alpaca jacket, and a guitar print dress.

Even though the silhouettes were familiar to fashion fans (Veruschka comes to mind), the fabrics and techniques were completely fashion forward, and cut to flatter. Can't wait to wear the clothes. (See the full collection.)
